The Facilities & Campus Operations department plays a crucial role at George Mason University by ensuring a safe, functional, and clean environment that supports the university's mission. We are currently seeking a Housekeeping and Apparel Worker 1 to join our Facilities & Campus Operations department. This full-time classified staff position is located at the Arlington campus, with a work schedule from Sunday to Thursday, 9:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., and is essential for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety. The role offers a salary commensurate with education and experience, emphasizing the university’s commitment to fair and equitable compensation. As a Housekeeper, you will provide essential custodial services including cleaning common areas, classrooms, offices, hallways, and stairwells. Duties involve moving and spot-cleaning furniture, shampooing carpets, stripping, waxing, and buffing floors, as well as cleaning and restocking bathrooms and removing trash daily. You will report any safety concerns, maintain cleaning supplies inventory, and work collaboratively within the department to ensure a clean and welcoming environment. This role requires someone reliable who takes pride in their work and can perform tasks with minimal supervision while adhering to all State, University, and departmental policies. Notably, employees in this role are designated as essential personnel, expected to report for snow removal or emergency conditions when assigned.
