This position is for an Environmental Services worker at THOM Thomas Hospitals within the Environmental Services department. The role focuses on maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment, which is critical to the overall patient experience and operational efficiency of the hospital. As part of a dedicated team, the Environmental Services worker will perform a variety of cleaning tasks and related duties across multiple areas including patient rooms, exam and procedure rooms, operating rooms, public areas, offices, and toilets. The scope of work ensures that these areas meet stringent cleanliness and safety standards that support infection control and patient care. The Environmental Services worker position is a full-time, non-exempt role with a 40-hour workweek during the evening shift. The individual in this role must be physically able to perform demanding tasks such as mopping, bending, reaching, and operating equipment like vacuum cleaners and autoscrubbers. They will also follow established cleaning procedures, handle waste removal, replenish supplies such as paper towels and soap, and assist with moving furniture and equipment as needed. Maintaining and reporting on the condition of cleaning equipment is also an essential responsibility. This role requires the ability to work tactfully and efficiently within a hospital environment where exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids, and cleaning chemicals is frequent. Safety and sanitation regulations must be followed rigorously to ensure a safe workplace for staff and patients alike.
