The Host position with the Phoenix Mercury WNBA Player Performance Dining team is a critical and dynamic role focused on supporting the unique nutritional needs of professional athletes, coaches, and staff. This position is more than traditional food service — it plays an essential part in fueling athletes with precision to support their sports nutrition goals, ensuring optimal performance and recovery. The role entails the seamless delivery of meals and hydration timed carefully to align with training, practice, and recovery periods. Reporting directly to the Team Chef and taking guidance from coaches, nutrition staff, and the broader Mercury team, the Host works within an integrated performance environment to maximize athlete focus, energy, and recovery through attentive and specialized dining service. Key responsibilities include managing hydration stations, monitoring snack and fueling options, and maintaining deep knowledge of dietary restrictions, allergens, and nutritional components relevant to the athletes’ menus. The Host creates a professional, confidential, and athlete-centered atmosphere that respects the high-performance environment of the Phoenix Mercury team. Timeliness, accuracy, and attention to detail in meal delivery, sanitation, and presentation standards are foundational to this role. Additionally, the Host contributes to the upkeep of dining areas, ensuring they remain organized and ready between training sessions and events. Collaboration with chefs and nutrition staff ensures that substitutions, portion adjustments, and recovery-focused items meet the evolving needs of the athletes. This role demands exceptional multitasking skills, composure under pressure, and professional communication to coordinate smoothly with athletes, coaches, chefs, and nutritionists. This is a full-time hourly role with a competitive pay rate of $27.00 per hour.
