The role of Associate Manager, Customs & Foreign Trade for North America, based in Amherst, NY, offers a starting salary of $70,000 annually, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and location. This role is integral to Ivoclar’s global operations, specifically focusing on ensuring seamless import and export processes aligned with international trade regulations. The Associate Manager is responsible for managing customs and foreign trade compliance across the company’s US and Canadian facilities. Responsibilities include planning, organizing, and maintaining departmental controls that support corporate and business objectives to maximize productivity, reach goals, adhere to budgets and forecasts, and ensure efficient operations.
The position demands expertise in tariff classification and effective coordination of customs procedures in alignment with Global Customs & Foreign Trade (GCFT) policies, including the selection and appointment of customs brokers. The manager is tasked with the collection, control, and archiving of customs clearance documents and plays a role in monitoring customs costs, such as duty payments and administrative costs, while supporting GCFT analysis. Strong collaboration skills are necessary to maintain relationships with import agents and help resolve shipping delays. Accurate assignment of country of origin and harmonized tariff classification numbers to purchased products within ERP systems is a key function, alongside submitting carrier claims for lost or damaged deliveries. This role requires a detail-oriented, motivated individual with problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset, capable of working independently. - Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in customs, global logistics or supply chain
- BS degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain or related field preferred
- Experience in auditing entries and tariff classifications
- Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or licensed Customs Broker (LCB) strongly preferred
- Highly motivated individual able to work independently
- Proficiency with intermediate level Microsoft Office
- SAP experience a plus
- Ability to travel up to 10 percent
