The Quadrangle community at Sunrise Senior Living is currently seeking a dedicated Sous Chef to assist the Executive Chef in overseeing the food production and presentation operations within the Dining Services department. This role involves significant leadership responsibilities including managing dining team members, overseeing financial aspects such as labor and food cost control, and ensuring compliance with sanitary and regulatory standards. The Sous Chef plays a critical part in maintaining Sunrise's food quality standards and enhancing the dining experience for residents. This position requires not only culinary expertise but also a strong commitment to resident satisfaction, team development, and safety. The role includes hands-on responsibilities in food preparation, staff training, record keeping, and supporting special events such as banquets and catering.
The Sous Chef will contribute directly to Sunrise's mission by embodying principles of service that value human life and dignity. This role demands the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively, delegate tasks to team members appropriately, and communicate proficiently to lead and inspire the dining services team. Candidates should possess substantial experience in culinary management, including a minimum of three years as a Chef or Kitchen Manager and at least two years of supervisory experience, with the ability to enforce regulatory compliance and maintain food safety standards such as HACCP. Certification in Culinary Arts and Food Services Sanitation (such as ServeSafe) is preferred. - Certification and/or college degree in culinary arts preferred
- Minimum three years experience as a chef or kitchen manager
- Two years supervisory and management experience including hiring staff, coaching, performance management daily operations supervision, discipline and counseling
- Maintains current food services sanitation certificate
- ServeSafe certified
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office and relevant applications
- Ability to work weekends, evenings and flexible hours
- Ability to drive a Sunrise vehicle where applicable
- Willingness to comply with pre-employment health and safety requirements
