The role of Director of Operations is a pivotal leadership position within our restaurant organization. This position involves overseeing daily operations for a district that includes 6 restaurants directly, while also managing a District Manager responsible for an additional 6 to 7 restaurants. Together, this leadership team manages the performance of approximately 12 to 13 restaurants. The Director of Operations is responsible for driving sales growth and profitability by focusing on customer satisfaction and effective human resource management. In addition to operational oversight, the Director of Operations acts as a mentor, cultivating talent within the leadership team and ensuring compliance with company policies and ethical business practices.
Key responsibilities include ensuring optimal staffing levels and workforce diversity, developing recruitment and retention strategies, and executing performance feedback and management protocols. This role also demands a strong focus on food safety, quality standards, and maintaining the company’s brand reputation across the district. The Director of Operations monitors financial performance, including budgeting and cost controls related to food, labor, and overall restaurant profitability. They play an integral role in local marketing planning and product rollout initiatives.
The successful candidate must demonstrate significant experience in multi-unit restaurant management, proficiency in P&L analysis, and a deep understanding of human resource practices and employment laws. Physical requirements include the ability to work in various environmental conditions, stand for extended periods, and travel between restaurant locations.
