This particular role is for the position of Helicopter Air Ambulance Pilot operating the B407 aircraft under visual flight rules (VFR). The pilot will serve as the final authority regarding all flight operations and safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment. Duties include thorough pre-flight inspections, adherence to strict operational procedures, and comprehensive flight planning often under short notice. Familiarity with the aircraft’s technical and medical systems is paramount, as pilots must ensure the medical interior is fully functional and that the team is comfortable and knowledgeable about the equipment. Collaboration with EMS representatives, hospitals, and community stakeholders forms a significant part of the pilot’s responsibilities, fostering positive relationships and supporting Air Methods’ outreach efforts. Successful candidates will demonstrate robust aviation experience, adherence to regulatory standards, and a proactive approach to safety and communication. The role demands at least 2,000 total flight hours with substantial PIC and turbine rotary experience, along with FAA certifications and medical fitness.
