The Traffic Control Technician role is a vital position within RoadSafe’s operational framework. This non-exempt role focuses on the essential task of setting up and taking down lane closures, which is critical for maintaining safety on state highways and other roadways. The technician is responsible for establishing safe work zones, redirecting traffic around survey crews or workers, and working independently or alongside a crew to ensure projects run smoothly and safely. Operating various vehicles associated with traffic control, such as Management of Traffic (MOT) vehicles and Truck Mounted Attenuator (TMA) trucks, forms a routine part of the job. This hands-on role also includes assembling, delivering, and picking up safety products as directed by contractors. In addition to the technical skills required, this position demands a strong commitment to safety and adherence to federal and state regulations. The successful candidate must be knowledgeable about traffic control plans, capable of interpreting roadway signage, and physically able to manage equipment and materials weighing up to 70 pounds. This role may require travel within the state, overnight stays, and availability for rotating on-call schedules, including working nights and weekends per project demands. RoadSafe’s Traffic Control Technicians receive extensive training, including the completion of the ATSSA Traffic Control Technician intermediate course, ensuring they are fully prepared to meet the challenges of the role.   • Valid driver’s license
  • 1-3 years of experience and 2,000 field hours in traffic control
  • must be able to pass a background check including motor vehicle records check
  • must successfully pass a drug test and meet federal DOT requirements
  • wear proper safety equipment including work boots with safety toe, hard hat, safety glasses, and safety vest
  • basic reading and writing ability
  • ability to read plans and ensure traffic control plans are implemented and maintained
  • good knowledge of state and local roadways
