The position of Government Accounting Director at FlightSafety International plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with government accounting standards, particularly the Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR and DFARS), and other pertinent government regulations. This leadership role requires providing strategic guidance and oversight to maintain the organization's regulatory compliance and accounting integrity. The director will steward FlightSafety’s government accounting compliance program by partnering with internal business units such as Finance, Operations, Program Management, and Contracts, and work closely with government agencies including the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) and the Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA).
This role involves maintaining FlightSafety's Disclosure Statements, assessing the cost implications of accounting practice changes, supporting government audits, and managing indirect rate strategies aligned with the company’s business objectives. The Government Accounting Director will also be responsible for policy development, engaging proactively with regulatory bodies, and driving continuous improvements for compliance and operational efficiency. FlightSafety International seeks a highly skilled professional to serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership, safeguarding compliance while facilitating sustained growth and success with United States Government contracts.
                - Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
 - Additional financial certifications such as CPA, CGFM, or MBA
 - 10+ years of industry accounting experience
 - Significant related experience at a major defense contractor, DCMA, or DCAA
 - Significant expertise in US Government contracting with knowledge of FAR, DFARS, and CAS
 - Practical experience calculating General Dollar Magnitude (GDM) and preparing CASB Disclosure Statements
 - Working knowledge of SAP, Deltek Costpoint, or similar ERPs
 - Strong cost accounting background with experience in internal controls, consolidation, and reporting
 - Proven leadership skills with ability to manage and develop accounting teams
 - Excellent communication, analytical, organizational skills
 - Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office
 - Ability to work proactively with government auditors and regulatory agencies
