The Environmental Services Technician role at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center is a critical position focused on maintaining cleanliness and sanitation throughout the hospital to promote safety and prevent the spread of infectious diseases and other hazards. This position plays a vital role in creating a safe and welcoming environment for our patients, visitors, and staff members. As an Environmental Services Technician, you will be responsible for routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and waste disposal. Beyond basic cleaning, the role demands the application of specialized techniques and equipment to sanitize different areas, including patient rooms, emergency rooms, operating rooms, and common areas, each of which requires adherence to unique protocols according to their specific standards and needs. This role is a Per Diem (PRN) position, which means you will work as needed without guaranteed hours and without eligibility for additional benefits. The pay rate for this role is established at $18.36 per hour. In this role, you will receive extensive training to understand and implement proper biohazard disposal techniques and the safe use of disinfecting chemicals. This includes the management and disposal of medical waste such as bodily fluids and sharp objects, which is crucial for maintaining a sterile and safe healthcare environment. The position requires not only technical skills but also a friendly and empathetic demeanor. Interpersonal skills are essential as you will be interacting regularly with patients, hospital visitors, and medical staff.
