The Springhill Suites by Marriott in Surprise, Arizona, is on the cusp of an exciting new chapter as it prepares for its grand opening. This full-service hotel is strategically located to serve visitors to the growing Surprise community, a vibrant suburb known for its quality of life and economic development. The hotel promises to deliver a unique blend of comfort, convenience, and Marriott's trusted hospitality. To successfully launch this property, the organization is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Pre-Opening General Manager to spearhead the pre-opening and operational efforts. With an anticipated salary range of $70,000 to $80,000 per year and a full-time position, this role offers an exceptional opportunity for a driven hospitality leader eager to make a significant impact.
The Pre-Opening General Manager will be instrumental in shaping the identity and operational setup of the new hotel, ensuring it meets all brand standards and exceeds guest expectations from the outset. This leadership role involves collaboration with ownership, corporate teams, contractors, and vendors to oversee all aspects of pre-opening activities, including construction progress, FF&E installation, recruitment, staff training, and regulatory compliance. The manager will establish policies, standard operating procedures, and service standards that will foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Beyond the initial launch, the General Manager will take charge of the hotel's daily operations, driving revenue growth, managing costs, and promoting high levels of guest satisfaction. The role requires exceptional communication and organizational abilities, strong financial acumen, and a proven track record in hotel openings. The successful candidate must be adept at balancing multiple priorities under pressure and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills to build and maintain customer and community relationships. Familiarity with Marriott brand standards and property management systems is preferred, enhancing the ability to deliver a seamless experience that aligns with corporate objectives.
In addition to operational duties, the General Manager will handle strategic planning, budget preparation, quality control, marketing initiatives, and human resources functions such as employee motivation, training, and compliance with labor laws. Maintaining security and safety protocols, supporting preventative maintenance programs, and fostering an environment of clear communication across all departments are also key responsibilities. - Minimum 5 years of experience in general management
- Experience with at least 2 hotel openings
- Knowledge of hotel operations, finance, HR, and marketing
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure
- Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or related field preferred
- Familiarity with Marriott brand standards and property management systems preferred
- Possess a valid driver’s license
