The Food Operations Manager 3 position at Yale New Haven Hospital - York St. is a pivotal role reporting directly to the Executive Chef 4. This role oversees the daily operations of the New Haven Cafe and Peet's Coffee location, which operates Monday through Friday. The manager will lead a team of approximately 30 staff members, maintaining high standards of culinary excellence and customer service within a healthcare and retail foodservice environment. This position is perfect for a culinary professional with a robust background in hospital foodservice operations and experience managing unionized teams. The Food Operations Manager 3 is responsible for guaranteeing efficient, safe, and productive daily foodservice operations while promoting a positive work culture and customer satisfaction. Managing labor schedules, payroll via Kronos, and cash handling processes are critical components of this role. Additionally, the manager is expected to control inventory, reduce waste, ensure compliance with food safety regulations, and engage regularly with customers to gather feedback for continuous improvement. Collaboration with hospital leadership is also a key duty to ensure that foodservice objectives align with the overall institutional goals.   • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3 years of management experience
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Experience with labor management systems such as Kronos
  • Proficiency in cash handling
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations
