One exciting opportunity within MCCS is based at Marine Corps Base Hawaii (MCBH), located at Kaneohe Bay on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. This particular role is the FLEX Food Service Worker (Barista) position at the Starbucks facility at MCBH. The FLEX Food Service Worker serves as a vital team member responsible for delivering exceptional customer service while preparing and serving specialty coffee beverages and related food products. The position requires a dynamic individual who can efficiently manage the daily operations of a busy coffee service counter, following established procedures to maintain consistency and quality in every product served.
The role involves a variety of responsibilities, including setting up food service counters with a range of hot and cold foods, beverages, desserts, and condiments. The barista assists customers with selections, employs suggestive selling techniques to boost product sales, and ensures that all items are presented following strict recipe and presentation standards. The position also entails operating cash registers, managing cash transactions independently, and conducting routine cleaning and maintenance of equipment to ensure a safe and appealing customer service environment.
Physical demands of the job involve light to moderate lifting, constant standing, and the ability to carry items up to 45 pounds, which makes physical fitness a practical necessity. Working conditions may include exposure to warm environments, noise, minor hazards such as cuts or burns, and the ability to maintain high sanitation standards amid such conditions is paramount.

- Minimum education level equivalent to high school diploma or GED
- Demonstrated customer service skills
- Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods
- Ability to lift and carry objects up to 45 lbs independently and over 45 lbs with assistance
- Willingness to work flexible shifts including mornings, evenings, weekends
- Must comply with safety and sanitation standards
- Must register with Selective Service if applicable
- Ability to obtain Hawaii Food Handlers Certificate within 14 days
- Must complete prescribed training
- Must be able to pass National Agency Check and Inquiries (NACI) background check
