The Food Server position at Melmark is a part-time role, requiring 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., excluding two school vacation weeks and holidays. This role is integral to the smooth operation of the lunch program by acting as the liaison between the school and the food vendor, ensuring that all dietary needs and restrictions, as specified by doctors’ orders, are understood and adhered to. A Food Server at Melmark is responsible for serving lunches to students while monitoring food temperatures and maintaining cleanliness throughout the lunch periods. This position demands attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks associated with food service in a specialized educational setting.
The Food Server plays a critical role in coordinating food preparation which includes tasks such as warming frozen foods and setting up dining areas prior to mealtime. Maintaining accurate food inventory is another key responsibility, with routine communication required with the Director of Business Operations when stock levels are low. This role also encompasses maintaining cleanliness in kitchen and staff break areas, performing routine cleaning duties including mopping, dusting, and organizing refrigerators, as well as disposing of unclaimed food items to ensure hygienic standards are consistently met.
