The role of Facility Maintenance Attendant is a crucial position within Chaffey College, responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall upkeep of campus buildings and grounds. This is a full-time, 12-month classified bargaining unit position available at two campuses: Chino Campus and Rancho Campus. The working hours for Chino Campus are Monday through Friday, from 5am to 2pm, while for Rancho Campus, the schedule is Monday through Friday, from 4:30am to 1:30pm. The position comes with a starting salary aligned with Range 8 of the CSEA Salary Schedule at Step A, equating to $4,058 per month, along with an excellent benefits package.
In this role, the Facility Maintenance Attendant works under supervision to ensure assigned areas of buildings and their related grounds are kept in a clean, orderly, sanitary, and safe condition. Key responsibilities include cleaning floors of various materials using methods such as dusting, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, stripping, waxing, and buffing. This role also involves vacuuming and shampooing carpets and rugs, washing and polishing various furniture and fixtures, cleaning windows and glass surfaces, and maintaining restrooms to high sanitary standards by disinfecting and replenishing supplies. The attendant will be tasked with moving, assembling, and arranging furniture and equipment within and between buildings, as well as performing minor repairs and maintenance tasks.
Additionally, the role includes driving a vehicle to deliver furniture, equipment, or supplies across campus; participating in intensive cleaning and restoration projects during school breaks; and setting up or closing rooms for regular and special events such as athletic activities or gallery exhibitions. The Facility Maintenance Attendant also monitors and reports any security breaches, fire hazards, or safety concerns noticed during their duties. The position requires the operation and maintenance of cleaning equipment like scrub machines and carpet shampooers and involves general building repair tasks that require the use of ladders and small hand tools.
