The Facilities Ranger position at Gilbert Unified School District is a critical role within the Community Education department, designed to uphold the safety, cleanliness, and functionality of school facilities used by the community. The Facilities Ranger is responsible for opening and closing facilities according to scheduled rental times, maintaining cleanliness in various school areas including classrooms, restrooms, multipurpose rooms, and gyms, and inspecting these facilities to ensure they meet district standards for safety and cleanliness. In addition to custodial responsibilities, the Facilities Ranger is central to operational safety by reporting immediate hazards or damages and by monitoring the proper use of facilities including identifying unauthorized groups using the premises. The role demands strong customer service skills as the ranger responds to inquiries from staff and the public, enforces district policies such as prohibitions against smoking, drugs, alcohol, and weapons, and assists law enforcement and security personnel when necessary. This is a 12-month, full-time hourly position with a pay rate starting at $18.73 per hour, depending on experience.
