The Facilities Ranger position at Gilbert Unified School District is a critical role within the Community Education department, designed to uphold the safety, cleanliness, and functionality of school facilities used by the community. This role is classified as support staff (non-classroom) and involves tasks that directly support community education facility rental customers. The Facilities Ranger is responsible for opening and closing facilities according to scheduled rental times, maintaining cleanliness in various school areas including classrooms, restrooms, multipurpose rooms, and gyms, and inspecting these facilities to ensure they meet district standards for safety and cleanliness. In addition to custodial responsibilities, the Facilities Ranger is central to operational safety by reporting immediate hazards or damages and by monitoring the proper use of facilities including identifying unauthorized groups using the premises. The role demands strong customer service skills as the ranger responds to inquiries from staff and the public, enforces district policies such as prohibitions against smoking, drugs, alcohol, and weapons, and assists law enforcement and security personnel when necessary. This position requires a balance of physical ability, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills to maintain a secure and inviting environment for all facility users. This is a 12-month, full-time hourly position with a pay rate starting at $18.73 per hour, depending on experience. The workday consists of 6 hours, and the position requires possessing a valid Arizona DPS Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card, a valid driver’s license, and evidence of insurability. The Facilities Ranger role is classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and falls under job grade 111 within the district’s pay structure.
