The Environmental Services Attendant role at St. Charles Health System is an integral part of the Environmental Services Department. This position is specifically designed to maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of the hospital interior areas, contributing directly to patient safety and overall facility hygiene. In this role, the attendant performs a variety of cleaning tasks, including disinfecting surfaces, cleaning restrooms, sweeping and maintaining floors, and managing waste disposal following hospital and environmental safety standards. They operate and maintain cleaning equipment, ensure sufficient supply stocks, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives. The position requires cooperation within a team-oriented environment while also providing courteous and respectful interactions with patients, staff, and visitors. St. Charles Health System offers a competitive pay range for this position, from $20.11 to $25.14 per hour, with additional differentials for relief shifts, swing shifts, night shifts, and weekends. Employment is typically on relief or swing shifts, underscoring the need for flexible scheduling to meet hospital demands. The role requires the attainment of CHEST certification within six months of hire, with certification coursework provided by the health system.
