Miami, FL, USA, FL Full-Time $21 - $21
The Missouri Botanical Convention Center (MBCC) is a premier venue specializing in hosting a wide variety of events ranging from business conferences and large-scale conventions to social gatherings and exhibitions. Known for its modern facilities, versatile event spaces, and commitment to delivering exceptional client experiences, the MBCC integrates convention center features with a hotel-style approach to operations. The center focuses on meticulous event planning and execution, ensuring clients receive premium service and exceptional outcomes. With state-of-the-art ballrooms, meeting rooms, exhibit halls, and flexible pre-function and exterior areas, MBCC caters to diverse event needs while maintaining a strong emphasis on safety and visual appeal throughout all functions. The Event Set-Up Supervisor role at MBCC is pivotal to the success of every event hosted. This hands-on supervisory position requires an individual who can expertly manage the preparation, installation, and breakdown of all furniture and equipment necessary for various event spaces. Reporting directly to the Housekeeping Manager and Event Managers, the supervisor oversees a team consisting of full-time, part-time, and temporary staff. The role ensures that every room set meets client specifications, adheres to strict safety standards, and maintains a consistent high quality of visual presentation that aligns with both convention center and hotel operations. The supervisor will be responsible for interpreting Banquet Event Orders, event resumes, layouts, and diagrams to guarantee the flawless execution of room setups, including the precise placement of tables, linens, chairs, podiums, staging, audiovisual equipment, signage, and specialty items. They will conduct thorough pre-event inspections to verify cleanliness and readiness and must be adept at adjusting setups in response to last-minute client requests or changes in event programming, all while fostering a professional and service-oriented attitude. This position requires strong leadership capabilities, as the supervisor will conduct daily team briefings, manage labor assignments, and coordinate multiple event turnovers efficiently. Acting as the primary contact for the setup team during shifts, the supervisor also collaborates closely with Event Managers, Banquets, and AV teams to address any operational challenges. Moreover, the role involves maintaining clean and organized storage areas, tracking inventory, preparing billing documentation for labor and equipment, and supporting continuous staff training on safety, customer service, and setup standards. The position offers an hourly wage of $21.15 and includes an attractive benefits package for full-time employees, such as health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with matching contributions, and paid time off covering vacation, sick days, and 11 holidays. The role demands physical stamina as it involves lifting, moving heavy equipment, and standing for extended periods, along with a flexible availability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts during busy event periods. Ideal candidates will possess experience with event setups within convention centers, hotels, or public assembly venues, a firm understanding of Banquet Event Orders and space planning software like Social Tables or AutoCAD, and a proactive, service-driven mindset. Certification in safety and equipment operation, such as OSHA training and forklift certification, is preferred, along with a commitment to uphold the highest standards of event presentation and client satisfaction. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated leader looking to contribute to a premier event venue’s success and grow their career in the hospitality and event management industry.
