The Event Monitor position at Stanislaus State is an integral casual, hourly-intermittent role within the Fundraising and Special Events department. This role supports the successful execution of various university events, ensuring they run smoothly, safely, and comply with university policies. Working under direct supervision, the Event Monitor’s responsibilities span from event preparation and on-site coordination to vendor and client communication and post-event follow-up. This position is vital to maintaining high-quality customer service and client satisfaction throughout the event lifecycle. The role is classified as a casual worker position, providing flexible, temporary employment opportunities typically scheduled on an as-needed basis through June 30, 2026, with the possibility of reappointment depending on budget, operational needs, and job performance. The pay rate is set at $20.00 per hour.
In this role, the Event Monitor is tasked with a variety of duties critical to the operational success of university events. The individual will attend assigned events, ensuring compliance with university policies and procedures, manage event set-up activities, including receiving and verifying rental deliveries from vendors, and inspect event locations to maintain cleanliness, equipment functionality, and the accuracy of event setups. Serving as the main point of contact for clients during events, the Event Monitor provides assistance, responds to queries, and works to ensure overall client satisfaction. The role also involves managing event logistics by coordinating with food service providers and vendors to adhere to schedules, addressing any unauthorized groups present during events, and handling emergency situations by reporting promptly to the appropriate authorities. Post-event duties include gathering feedback, submitting event summaries, assisting with event preparation in the office, and maintaining accurate timekeeping through the university’s MyCSUSTAN portal. Participation in mandatory training sessions and meetings is a required part of the role to ensure readiness and compliance with operational standards.
This position demands a high degree of professionalism, excellent communication skills, the ability to remain calm under pressure, and a thorough understanding of customer service.
