The Pan American Center, located on the campus of New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico, is one of the many premier venues under Oak View Group's management. This multi-purpose arena boasts a seating capacity of 12,515 and serves as the home court for the New Mexico State Aggies Men's and Women's Basketball teams, as well as the Women’s Volleyball team. The venue hosts over 200 events annually, ranging from athletic competitions and concerts to conferences and cultural events, making it a vibrant hub for community engagement and entertainment.
The role of Event Manager at Oak View Group is a pivotal position that involves managing all facets of assigned events from initial planning through execution and post-event activities. Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, the Event Manager is entrusted with ensuring seamless event operations and the highest standard of guest experience. The position offers an annual salary between $45,000 and $50,000 and is a full-time role that includes an attractive benefits package comprising health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with matching contributions, and paid time off including vacation, sick days, and 11 holidays.
The Event Manager is responsible for overseeing various operational components including building security, guest services, and coordination with local public safety officials. Leading a large team of part-time event staff – including ushers, ticket takers, security personnel, and parking attendants – the manager strategizes to enhance the overall guest and client experience for numerous events each year. Beyond operational leadership, the role demands strong organizational abilities such as creating detailed AutoCAD floor plans, preparing cost estimates, managing event-related documentation, and maintaining compliance with company and legal policies.
Excellent communication skills are essential, as the Event Manager will frequently liaise with clients, partners, and stakeholders to ensure events are meticulously coordinated and executed. This role requires flexibility to work long hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, reflecting the dynamic nature of live event management. Furthermore, the Event Manager must demonstrate a passion for service excellence, creative problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
In addition to operational duties, the Event Manager is tasked with developing guest service programs, facilitating emergency preparedness, supervising payroll for event staff, and acting as the manager on duty as required. Proficiency in AutoCAD and knowledge of ADA compliance are critical qualifications, as is the ability to manage diverse stakeholder needs and multi-task efficiently within a fast-paced environment.
