The Environmental Service Manager role at Newman Regional Health is a full-time exempt position typically scheduled Monday through Friday, though nights, weekends, and holidays may be required as needed. This pivotal role oversees the entire operations of the Environmental Services Department, ensuring that all hospital areas are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and safety, in compliance with established procedures and healthcare regulations. The manager leads a dedicated team, including laundry and linen staff, fostering a professional environment with consistent training, orientation, and performance evaluations. Working closely with the Facilities Director and Human Resources, this role involves overseeing personnel management, budgeting, and the development of job descriptions along with criteria-based performance reviews.
A key responsibility of the Environmental Service Manager is to enforce required safety and infection control protocols to minimize the risk of physical, chemical, and biological hazards. This ensures the prevention of illness and infection spread within the hospital environment. The role requires strong problem-solving skills to address staffing and personnel issues effectively, as well as excellent communication and leadership capabilities to motivate and influence the team positively. The ideal candidate demonstrates exceptional organizational skills and is capable of conducting regular educational in-services and departmental meetings to continuously improve team performance and compliance.
Newman Regional Health values effective communication and leadership skills, preferring candidates who are bilingual in English and Spanish to better serve the diverse community. While a high school diploma or GED is required, candidates with courses or certifications in management or Environmental Services, as well as supervisory experience in a healthcare setting, are preferred.
