The Food Services Department at St. Charles Health System is a vital part of the organization, recognized for delivering world-class food and beverage services which include patient room service, a café, deli, and catering. The Food Service Cleaning Attendant at St. Charles Health System plays a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen environment. This position is essential in ensuring that dishes, cookware, and utensils are cleaned using commercial dishwashers and cleaning equipment to meet strict sanitation standards. Beyond dishwashing, the attendant is responsible for performing routine and deep cleaning tasks within the kitchen to ensure compliance with St. Charles Health System’s standards and the Oregon Food Sanitation standards. This helps to maintain a safe, hygienic environment for patients, staff, and visitors alike. This is a relief position with variable shifts that may include swing shifts, night shifts, and weekends, compensated with various differential pay bonuses. The hourly pay ranges from $19.42 to $23.68 with additional differential pay such as a 15% relief differential, $2.50 per hour swing shift differential, $5.50 per hour night shift differential, and $2.00 per hour weekend differential. This provides an attractive compensation package that rewards flexibility and availability. The Food Service Cleaning Attendant reports to the Food Services Supervisor and does not supervise other employees. The role requires physical stamina and the ability to work in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment while maintaining attention to detail. Key responsibilities include washing and restocking dishes, cleaning kitchen floors, walls, and equipment, and sorting waste and recycling, among others. The position also supports other food service areas if needed, including delivering food to patients. The role requires maintaining professional conduct, excellent communication skills for interacting with diverse populations, and the ability to function effectively both independently and as part of a team. A Deschutes County Food Handlers Card is required, while a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Work involves frequent standing, walking, lifting, and exposure to elements such as heat and chemicals, emphasizing the need for proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
