We are currently seeking a dedicated Dietary Cook to join our team on a part-time basis with flexible AM and PM shifts. The Dietary Cook is responsible for preparing and serving attractive meals that meet customer expectations and dietary standards within a clean and safe dining services environment. This includes following standardized recipes, maintaining proper portion sizes, and ensuring food safety through temperature control and hygiene practices. The role also involves supervising dining aides when necessary and engaging with residents to gather feedback, ensuring their dining experience is pleasant and meets their needs. In addition to meal preparation, the Dietary Cook plays an essential role in maintaining a sanitary kitchen environment by cleaning equipment, replenishing supplies, and adhering to infection control measures. Participation in educational programs and staff meetings is encouraged to continuously improve skills and ensure compliance with facility policies. The position requires a genuine interest in working with seniors, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work harmoniously with fellow team members and facility personnel.   • Have an understanding of Dining Services procedures and practices
  • The ability to follow oral, written and verbal instructions, function independently and make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language
  • Must be able to read recipes and menus
  • Have a genuine interest in seniors and a willingness to work for the best interest of the residents and facility
  • Have personal integrity and be able to deal tactfully with residents, family members, visitors, government agencies and personnel
  • Be able to work harmoniously with Dining Services staff and all other facility personnel
  • Requires judgment in prioritizing the performance of tasks, duties and responsibilities in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures
  • The ability to be discrete and protect the integrity of confidential information and stay within Corporate Compliance
  • Patience, a cheerful disposition, enthusiasm and a willingness to handle residents based on whatever maturity and physical level in which they are currently functioning
  • The ability to adhere to professional code of ethics
  • The ability to relate information concerning a resident's condition
  • High school diploma or GED is preferred but not required
  • ServSafe certified or be willing to obtain certification
  • At least one year of experience in a similar position is preferred
