The role of Dietary Cook at Ossian Health and Rehabilitation is a critical position responsible for preparing and serving quality meals that meet customer expectations while maintaining a clean and safe dining services environment. As part of the dietary team, the selected candidate will be instrumental in ensuring that meals are prepared according to standardized recipes and menus, while adhering to federal, state, and local guidelines.
The Dietary Cook will be required to maintain rigorous standards for food safety, temperature control, and cleanliness within the kitchen and dining service areas. This includes daily recording of food temperatures, supervising dining aides when necessary, and ensuring timely meal service to residents. The role also involves some direct interaction with residents to gather feedback and ensure satisfaction with their dining experience. Additional responsibilities include cleaning food service equipment, replenishing supplies, sweeping and mopping floors, and assisting with kitchen opening duties such as turning on equipment and unlocking the kitchen.
Education and experience are valued in this role, with a preference for candidates who have a high school diploma or GED and are ServSafe certified or willing to obtain certification. Experience in a similar dietary or food preparation role is also preferred. Interpersonal skills such as patience, a cheerful disposition, enthusiasm, and the ability to work harmoniously with residents and staff are essential. The Dietary Cook must maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics, infection control measures, and safety regulations at all times.
