The position of Department Manager at World Wide Wings plays a critical leadership role within the restaurant. This manager is responsible for overseeing a specific department—whether it be the Heart of House (HOH), Bar, or Hospitality—with duties tailored to the needs of the respective area. The HOH Department Manager focuses on food and product management within the kitchen and back-of-house operations, ensuring food quality, staff development, and compliance with health and safety standards. The Bar Department Manager oversees all adult beverage operations including inventory control, ordering, and regulatory compliance, while the Hospitality Manager is charged with managing dining room service and front-of-house team member planning.
As a Department Manager, you will act as a key player supporting the General Manager by managing shift operations and team performance to maximize profitability and operational excellence. This role requires a leader who can motivate, train, and develop their team members through clear communication, performance feedback, and ongoing coaching. They will also collaborate across departments to ensure seamless operations and uphold World Wide Wings’ high standards for quality, cleanliness, and guest satisfaction.
A vital aspect of the role is financial stewardship. Managers must manage labor and food or beverage costs meticulously to meet budgetary guidelines and company benchmarks. They take ownership of ordering, inventory management, and cost control to drive profitability. Additionally, creating incentive programs and sales contests is a crucial method used to encourage staff engagement and boost sales.
The work environment is fast-paced and physically demanding, requiring the ability to stand and walk extensively, lift up to 50 pounds, and manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Candidates must be organized, results-driven, and capable of fostering a fun and exciting atmosphere for guests and team members. A minimum of two years in restaurant or retail management is required, with experience managing a full bar restaurant preferred. Completion of the Buffalo Wild Wings Management Certification program and a high school diploma or equivalent are also required.
World Wide Wings offers an hourly pay range from $18.00 to $27.40 depending on experience.
