Delta Air Lines is a major American airline headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, known for its extensive global network and commitment to delivering exceptional customer service. As one of the world's largest and most respected airlines, Delta operates thousands of flights daily, connecting people and places across six continents. The company's Operations & Customer Center (OCC) functions as the command center and nerve hub of its worldwide operations, ensuring smooth and efficient management of flights, safety, and customer satisfaction. The OCC is a critical driving force behind Delta's ability to maintain a high level of operational reliability, even in the face of complex and unforeseen challenges, by engaging in real-time decision-making and strategic planning. Delta Air Lines is seeking qualified co-op students for its Operations & Customer Center who are available for a minimum of three alternating work terms, including Summer 2026, Spring 2027, and Fall 2027. The OCC Co-Op program is designed to give students hands-on experience in aviation operations, exposing them to the various aspects of supporting a large-scale, 24/7 airline operation. Selected co-op students will join teams that are pivotal to the airline’s operational success by collaborating with seasoned aviation professionals and using data to solve critical business challenges. The OCC co-op role provides a unique opportunity to gain exposure to one of several specialized teams. These include the Fuel Strategy team, which manages strategic initiatives around fuel consumption and sustainability for the airline's $14 billion annual jet fuel expenditure. Students on this team develop methods to optimize fuel loads, improve aircraft routing, and forecast payloads accurately. Alternatively, co-ops may join the Customer Experience & Operations Planning team, a strategic group focused on anticipating operational constraints and enhancing cross-department communication to improve the customer experience and operational reliability. The Flight Control team engagement offers insight into flight dispatching, pre-flight planning, real-time flight monitoring, and collaboration with flight crews to ensure safety and efficiency. Co-ops interested in technology may work on the OCC Innovation & Technology team, contributing to IT projects that support critical OCC functions such as Flight Control and Operations Management. Skills like SQL development, user acceptance testing, and documentation of business requirements are utilized here. Lastly, the OCC Business Strategy team involves project management of employee engagement activities, learning support, emergency response planning, and compliance campaigns. Throughout their co-op terms, students will gain invaluable practical experience that blends aviation operations, data analysis, technology, and strategic business management. This program provides an excellent pathway for those looking to advance a career in aviation operations, airline management, or related fields. The co-op experience fosters professional development, teamwork, and problem-solving capabilities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where every decision impacts the efficiency and safety of millions of passengers worldwide.
