The role being offered is for a Customs Specialist / Entry Writer, a vital position centered on managing customs-related processes to ensure seamless compliance and operations in cross-border shipments. The Customs Specialist will be responsible for preparing and reviewing all customs documentation, such as import and export declarations, ensuring adherence to customs regulations including tariff classification, valuation, and country of origin requirements. This role demands close coordination with internal departments, clients, customs brokers, and government authorities to address and resolve any customs issues that may arise.
The specialist in this role will be expected to stay abreast of evolving customs regulations, trade agreements, and industry best practices to mitigate delays and enhance customs clearance efficiency. Critical to this position is the ability to perform audits and compliance assessments, provide guidance on customs-related matters, and manage inquiries and disputes effectively. Additionally, the Customs Specialist will engage with customs programs like C-TPAT (Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) or AEO (Authorized Economic Operator) to support compliance initiatives.
Candidates should have a minimum of 2-3 years' experience in customs operations or brokerage and demonstrate strong knowledge of customs processes and documentation. Proficiency in customs management software and Microsoft Office is required. Preferred qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in international trade, supply chain management, or related fields, certifications in customs compliance, and experience with various industries and commodities. This full-time role offers a competitive salary range of $60,000 to $65,000 annually, complemented by comprehensive benefits.
