The Customs Entry Writer plays a crucial role in our day-to-day operations by managing a high volume of customs clearance processes on key brokerage accounts. This full-time role involves preparing and submitting accurate and compliant customs entries, ensuring alignment with government agencies such as the FDA, Federal Wildlife Service, and other Partner Government Agencies (PGAs). The individual in this role will be responsible for maintaining detailed entry documentation such as Customs Form 7501 and Entry/Manifest Form 3461, applying correct tariff classifications, and verifying critical shipment details including country of origin and Free Trade Agreement eligibility. They will also coordinate with carriers like airlines, NVOCCs, and steamship lines to confirm arrival information and participate actively in resolving any discrepancies. Attention to accuracy and compliance is paramount in this position. The Customs Entry Writer ensures that cargo deliveries meet all regulatory requirements and customer expectations through timely filing and communication. Additional responsibilities include assembling billing packages, managing delivery orders, and liaising with trucking providers to confirm shipment receipt and final delivery with proof of delivery documentation. This role demands a candidate who works well under pressure, exhibits meticulous attention to detail, and can navigate complex customs regulations and classification systems (including FDA, PGA, HTS codes, and ACE system proficiency). Candidates for this position are expected to possess at least one year of import brokerage experience and a minimum of a high school diploma, with an associate degree preferred. Strong math skills and proficiency with PC applications, particularly Microsoft Office, are essential for accurate rate and tariff calculations. Excellent communication abilities, both verbal and written, are required to effectively interact with overseas agents, clients, and internal teams.
