The Custodian I position at Texas Woman’s University plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and sanitation of campus buildings and facilities. This role involves manual custodial tasks that ensure a welcoming and hygienic environment across various university spaces, including apartments, lounges, offices, classrooms, and restrooms. Reporting directly to the Assistant Supervisor of Custodial Services, this position does not require supervisory duties but focuses on the diligent care and upkeep of physical spaces through routine cleaning and maintenance activities. The Custodian I is responsible for tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, trash removal, waxing floors, and mixing cleaning solutions, demonstrating the ability to operate specialized cleaning machinery like vacuum cleaners, buffers, and shampoo machines. This role demands continuous physical activity, including climbing stairs and occasionally climbing a ladder up to six feet high. The custodian must also adhere to university policies concerning safety, privacy, and emergency responsiveness. Successful performance is evaluated through the university’s review system and mandates regular attendance and reliability during scheduled work hours.
