Allan Hancock College is currently seeking temporary and on-call custodians to join the Facilities Department for the Santa Maria campus. This role offers an hourly wage of $20.00 with a work schedule of Monday through Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. The custodian will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly campus environment by conducting a variety of janitorial duties. This position requires passing a Department of Justice clearance prior to beginning work, ensuring security and compliance with state regulations. The custodian will perform essential cleaning tasks including but not limited to sweeping, mopping, polishing floors, dusting, vacuuming carpets and drapes, and maintaining restrooms. Additionally, custodians will manage the upkeep of the college's furnishings and fixtures, perform minor repairs, secure buildings, and assist in the setup of spaces by arranging furniture and equipment.
This custodial role demands a reliable, detail-oriented individual with the ability to work independently as well as cooperatively with colleagues and campus community members. Training and supervision of student help may also be part of the responsibilities. The position is essential in supporting the overall maintenance of college facilities, especially during recess and vacation periods when more thorough cleaning and upkeep activities are required.
