The Cook position at Church's Chicken is a vital role within the Field Operations department, reporting directly to the Restaurant General Manager. This role is primarily focused on preparing and cooking food products according to the Manager in Charge of the Shift’s instructions, adhering strictly to the Cooking Section of the Church's Operating Standards Manual (OSM). The Cook ensures that each item is produced with consistency, meets stringent quality standards, and complies with health and safety guidelines. The position involves setting up the batter table, preparing batter mixes, managing fryer operations – including shortening levels and fryer filtering – and cooking chicken and other menu items to meet business needs. A key responsibility is maintaining cleanliness and organization within the cooking area, practicing 'clean-as-you-go' habits, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly and immediately reporting any technical issues. Physically, the Cook position demands the ability to perform medium to heavy lifting, requiring the capability to frequently lift items weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds. The role requires standing, walking, stooping, squatting, reaching, and handling a variety of food products and equipment frequently throughout the work period, which may last up to eight hours.
