The role available is a full-time Food Services position located at the Burnet Campus, designed for candidates with at least two years of relevant food preparation experience and a valid driver's license. Working 40 hours weekly, employees are scheduled during daytime shifts and are integral to ensuring the highest standards of food safety, preparation, and customer service within a healthcare environment. This role involves preparing diverse menu items by measuring and mixing ingredients precisely according to recipes while adhering to proper cooking standards. Food preparation includes baking, roasting, broiling, steaming, and frying various meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods, ensuring taste and texture meet quality expectations by monitoring seasoning adjustments. Employees are responsible for correct portioning, maintaining safety and sanitation protocols according to Department of Health guidelines, and handling food storage properly to support safe food production.
Planning is an essential component, requiring review of menus and production sheets to organize the preparation workload effectively to meet service deadlines. Food handlers are accountable for pre-preparation tasks such as washing, trimming, and seasoning, and must comply with Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) requirements related to food preparation, service, and menu planning. Regular attendance at in-service training sessions and compliance with infection control policies are mandatory to maintain up-to-date knowledge and practices.
Safety is a top priority; the role demands active participation in the department’s safety program and prompt reporting of any safety concerns. Employees are expected to demonstrate exemplary customer service consistently, adhering to CARES standards, and contributing positively to the team environment. This position also involves maintaining transportation records, tracking food quantities and waste, and ensuring proper temperature control during handling.
