The Culinary Cook role at Key Recovery is a vital part of their residential program, tasked with preparing family-style meals that meet a variety of planned menus tailored for the co-ed long-term residential facility. This position is instrumental in ensuring that residents receive nutritious, quality meals including hot breakfasts, salads, soups, pasta, sandwiches, casseroles, fruit and vegetable dishes, and baked goods daily. Beyond cooking, the role also serves as a Life Skills Program role model, sharing culinary skills and knowledge with program participants under the direction of the Kitchen Manager. This position requires proficiency in food preparation techniques including washing, measuring, mixing, chopping, peeling, and cooking using various kitchen equipment to maintain the highest culinary standards. The Culinary Cook must ensure that all meals comply with recipes and sanitation standards while supporting special meals as needed. The role demands close attention to detail to maintain proper food temperatures, cleanliness, and organization in the kitchen. Working in a fast-paced kitchen environment, the Culinary Cook also collaborates with a team to foster a sanitized, orderly workspace and ensure appropriate food storage. This job involves physical demands such as standing for long periods, lifting heavy pots and pans, and working near hot surfaces and electrical appliances.
