The role of Cook 2 at Invited is integral to the smooth operation and superior quality standards of the kitchen. This junior-level position demands a skilled culinary professional who efficiently manages the set-up, food preparation, and organization of their workstation. The Cook 2 must consistently maintain high standards of food quality and presentation, ensuring all menu items—from daily specials and salads to entrees and desserts—are prepared with precision and consistency. This role requires collaboration with other kitchen team members, particularly Cook 1 and Cook 3, to balance responsibilities and uphold kitchen operations effectively.
The Cook 2 is responsible for various critical tasks such as preparing and storing food items, managing condiments and other ingredients, and maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen. Additionally, they play a supportive role in supervising junior cooks, assisting with menu planning, recipe development, and adapting meals to meet specific dietary needs or restrictions. The position also involves regular communication with the Kitchen Manager, Sous Chef, or Executive Chef to address product needs and resolve any food quality issues.
This role requires the ability to manage closing and storage processes efficiently, oversee inventory control, and uphold safety and sanitation standards. The Cook 2 may also lead a shift in the absence of senior staff members and handles additional duties as assigned to ensure seamless kitchen operations. The position demands physical stamina to perform tasks such as lifting, standing for long periods, and working in varying environmental conditions.

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 4 years experience in kitchen environment
- Valid food handler certifications as required by state and city regulations
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical activities for extended periods
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and environments
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 100 lbs occasionally
- Effective communication skills including talking and hearing
- Ability to follow safety guidelines and practices
- Willingness to work weekends and holidays
