This job opportunity is for the position of an overnight prep cook on a full-time basis, offering an hourly rate between $19.45 and $22.45. The role involves working the night shift from 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with an alternating weekend schedule of one weekend on and one weekend off. The ideal candidate must be dependable, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently as they will be the only staff member on duty for several hours during their shift. The prep cook plays a crucial role in supporting the Dietary Services team by preparing the next day’s menu entrees and breakfast for the day shift staff. This ensures residents receive timely, nutritious, and well-prepared meals that meet their dietary needs. The position involves reviewing menus prior to food preparation, inspecting special diet trays to ensure they are accurate, cooking and preparing a variety of appetizing foods, and maintaining cleanliness and organization within the kitchen environment. The prep cook is also responsible for properly disposing of food and waste according to established health and safety policies, coordinating dietary services with other departments when necessary, assisting in the development and standardization of food preparation methods, and ensuring that all necessary food and supplies are available for meals.
