The Cook position at Children's Hospital Colorado plays a vital role in supporting the nutritional and dietary needs of patients, families, and staff. This role is centered on preparing and cooking a variety of hot and cold food items for meal services such as Room Service, Catering, or the Café. Working primarily during night shifts from Wednesday through Sunday, 9:00 pm to 5:30 am, the Cook must be comfortable with weekend and holiday availability. This shift includes additional pay differentials for night and weekend hours, reflecting the specialized nature of the position. In this role, the Cook will develop culinary techniques and skills under the direct supervision of culinary leaders including the Sous Chef, Executive Sous Chef, or Executive Chef. Responsibilities include following basic recipes, managing food rotation and inventory, maintaining proper food temperatures, and labeling products with expiration dates. There is an emphasis on customer service, as the Cook may also serve customers at designated stations within the café. Maintaining a clean and safe work area is essential, adhering strictly to sanitation practices that comply with state, city, and county health regulations. The Cook must be a team player, willing to assist colleagues and provide shift coverage as needed.
