Southcoast Health is currently seeking a talented Cook to join their food service team at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River, MA. This position offers flexible hours ranging from 32 to 40 hours per week with day and evening shifts, including a weekend and holiday rotation. The Cook will play an essential role in the hospital’s daily operations by preparing short-order foods, made-to-order items, and Garde Manger in support of various departmental feeding responsibilities. This role is not limited to routine food preparation but also requires scratch cooking of soups, stews, chowders, and chili, ensuring food quality, taste, temperature, and visual appeal meet the highest standards. The Cook is responsible for adhering to recipes exactly to control portions and meal costs, maintaining cleanliness and organization of refrigeration and freezers, following rigorous sanitation protocols, and keeping accurate production and temperature records. Reporting directly to the Manager of Food Production or designee, the Cook will need to address any issues proactively by performing quality checks and communicating concerns effectively.
This role comes with a competitive pay range from USD 16.13 to USD 27.27 per hour, dependent on experience, and offers a $1,000 new hire sign-on bonus, including eligibility for rehires who were previously terminated over a year ago. - completion of four years of high school or equivalent
- minimum of two years culinary experience
- institutional culinary experience preferred
- ability to pass Southcoast written culinary exam
- ServSafe certification within 60 days of hire
- vaccination against seasonal influenza and COVID-19 or documented exemption
