The role operates under the direct supervision of a Mechanical Foreman and entails the cleaning, servicing, and maintenance of METRO buses, automobiles, equipment, and component parts to ensure their cleanliness, safety, and operational condition. The Cleaner plays an essential role in maintaining the fleet and facilities through a variety of tasks that ensure the vehicles and workspaces meet high standards of hygiene and functionality. This position offers excellent hands-on experience in vehicle maintenance and facility care, making it a critical support function within the transit operations. The Cleaner’s responsibilities include driving METRO vehicles through fueling stations and washers, checking and replenishing fuel, oil, and fluids, inspecting tires, and reporting mechanical issues. The role demands meticulous attention to detail in cleaning and disinfecting vehicles, equipment, and facilities using various cleaning methods from steam cleaning to hand scrubbing. Additionally, the Cleaner is responsible for maintaining cleanliness in service stations, floors, wash racks, and other designated areas using specialized yard scrubbing equipment and potentially forklifts and shop scrubbers. A key aspect of this role is adherence to METRO’s safety protocols and the Safety Management System (SMS). The Cleaner must actively promote safety awareness and comply with all procedures to minimize occupational hazards and ensure a safe working environment. They also complete documented reports related to vehicle servicing and maintenance activities. Excellent customer service skills are essential as the Cleaner interacts with internal and external customers, reflecting METRO's dedication to service excellence. Candidates for this role should possess a high school diploma or equivalent and preferably have at least two years of stable work experience, especially in building maintenance or vehicle cleaning and servicing. Proficiency in reading communication materials like memos and safety messages, and completing written documentation accurately, is important. A valid Texas Driver's License meeting METRO’s motor vehicle requirements is mandatory, along with completion of the METRO Bus Servicer Orientation and Driver Training Program within 21 days of hire.   • High school diploma or equivalent or must obtain an accredited G.E.D or high school equivalency within two years of hire date
  • Minimum of two years stable work experience preferred

  • Valid Texas Driver’s License meeting METRO’s requirements regarding motor vehicle records, testing, and assessments
