San Francisco International Airport (SFO) is an enterprise department of the City and County of San Francisco. This employment opportunity is governed by the Civil Service Commission Rule 111A and represents a critical supervisory role within SFO's Mechanical Maintenance Section. The position carries an annual salary of $194,558 (one step - flat rate) and entails overseeing a wide array of mobile and stationary machinery, equipment, and mechanical facilities within the airport’s extensive infrastructure. The successful candidate will supervise the overhaul, maintenance, and repair activities necessary to keep essential airport systems operating efficiently and safely. The role requires a comprehensive approach to managing maintenance operations, including developing and implementing maintenance, repair, and overhaul methods and procedures, scheduling routine servicing of plant equipment such as lubrication of machinery, cleaning filtration systems, sewage sump maintenance, and emergency equipment testing. The supervisor will be responsible for maintaining detailed and accurate records of mechanical equipment, including operational history, maintenance costs, repair data, and vendor information. This role includes inspecting mechanical equipment to assess operational condition, participating actively in major repairs, and providing final approval on maintenance activities. Collaboration is key in this position, as the supervisor will coordinate with construction engineers, inspectors, and contractors involved in new mechanical equipment installations, ensuring a seamless integration and operation. The role also involves preparing requisitions for materials and services, managing budgets for the mechanical maintenance section, and representing the Central Plant leadership in communications with various departmental personnel, the public, and external organizations.   • High school diploma or equivalent
  • four years of experience maintaining steam operating heating ventilating and air conditioning equipment with at least two years as chief engineer on a ship or in a large industrial plant
  • valid California driver's license
  • possession of Universal Chlorofluorocarbon Certificate issued by the Federal Environmental Protection Agency
  • ability to meet minimum qualifications by final filing date
  • ability to pass TSA security clearance
  • ability to obtain and maintain Customs Access Seal
  • compliance with Civil Service Commission Rule 111A
