Currently, St. Luke's United Methodist Church is seeking a Children’s Center Kitchen Manager/Lead Cook for their downtown location. This full-time position is ideal for individuals with certifications or degrees in Culinary Arts who are passionate about preparing nutritious and delicious meals in an institutional or community environment. The role involves overseeing daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, serving meals, and maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen. The successful candidate will engage in preparing and serving breakfasts, lunches, and snacks specifically for the children’s center Monday through Friday. They will also help with cooking and serving at church-sponsored events or outside community activities, contributing to the church’s outreach efforts. The position demands someone with a positive attitude, high standards for food quality, and kitchen cleanliness. The Kitchen Manager/Lead Cook will have responsibilities such as managing food inventory and rotation, ordering and verifying food supplies, and ensuring compliance with federal food safety paperwork. The candidate must be a team player who can also work independently, demonstrating a commitment to service and hospitality as core values which align with St. Luke's guiding principles. The position requires flexibility, as working hours could change depending on event schedules, with a typical workday from 7 am to around 2 pm, Monday through Friday. Physical ability to lift boxes weighing 80 pounds or more and passing a background check with three professional references are mandatory requirements.
