Michaels is a leading arts and crafts retail company operating over 1,300 stores across 49 states in the United States and Canada, as well as online through Michaels.com and Michaels.ca. Established in 1973 and headquartered in Irving, Texas, Michaels has become the premier destination for all things creative, providing a wide range of products related to crafting, framing, and artistic supplies. With a commitment to fueling the joy of creativity, Michaels also owns Artistree, a manufacturer specializing in custom and specialty framing merchandise, and MakerPlace by Michaels, a marketplace dedicated to handmade goods. The company prides itself on inclusivity and providing a welcoming environment for both team members and customers alike, fostering innovation and creativity across its broad customer base. The role of Store Associate at the Michaels location in Cary, NC, is designed to enhance the customer shopping experience by offering friendly and knowledgeable assistance, helping customers locate products, and ensuring that they receive fast and courteous service at checkout. As a key team member, you will support a variety of store operations including unloading trucks, stocking shelves, maintaining merchandise recovery standards, and assisting with both in-store and omni-channel services such as Buy Online Pickup In Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS). This full- or part-time role, suitable for individuals aged 16 years and older, demands physical stamina as the work requires standing for long periods, lifting heavy boxes, and occasional use of ladders and other equipment to restock higher shelves. The work environment includes climate-controlled retail areas as well as stock rooms that may not be temperature regulated. Some tasks may occur outdoors, such as retrieving shopping carts or unloading trucks, and there is exposure to specialized equipment in the Frame Shop, such as glass cutters and heat presses. Work hours can vary and include nights, weekends, and early mornings. Michaels places strong emphasis on adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), company policies, and compliance with legal requirements to ensure safety and shrink management within the store. Team members are expected to uphold a positive and respectful demeanor, promoting the company’s values and vision, serving as role models for others. Cross-training in Custom Framing selling and production is also part of the responsibilities, providing an opportunity to expand skills and support additional departments within the store. In return, Michaels offers a comprehensive benefits package which includes health insurance covering medical, dental, and vision plans, paid time off, tuition assistance, and generous employee discounts. This package applies to both full-time and part-time employees, reflecting the company’s commitment to the wellbeing and professional growth of its team.
