The Cashier role at Puyallup Tribal Enterprises is an essential position within the retail stores that directly interacts with customers to provide excellent service and ensure an inviting and efficient shopping atmosphere. Starting at $18.00 per hour, the Cashier is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the store, accurate transaction processing, food preparation, and helping customers swiftly complete their purchases. This role is critical in creating a positive experience for guests by working as part of a cooperative team to complete all store tasks, from stocking and inventory management to safety compliance and operational efficiency.
Cashiers take pride in their ability to welcome customers warmly, assist them with product selections, and support them throughout their visits to ensure satisfaction. The position requires multitasking skills and a calm demeanor to handle high-volume and fast-paced environments while maintaining accuracy and fostering a respectful, culturally sensitive workplace.
This full-time position demands flexibility, availability across various shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays, and requires the ability to work in multiple store locations within Tacoma and Fife. Cashiers are expected to maintain confidentiality, demonstrate integrity, and work independently as well as collaboratively with their peers. PTE promotes safety above all and requires that employees adhere strictly to workplace safety policies while contributing to continuous improvements throughout the stores.
In addition to customer-facing duties, cashiers are entrusted with processing receiving shipments, conducting inventory and waste reporting, managing task checklists, and generating POS system and register reports. This operational responsibility supports PTE’s mission of maximizing financial returns and maintaining high standards of store upkeep and asset management.

- Good math and cash handling skills
