The role of a Self-Checkout Attendant at WinCo Foods is essential to maintaining the smooth operation of the retail environment. This position involves providing friendly and cooperative service to both internal and external customers, ensuring an efficient, accurate, and courteous checkout experience. Operating between 5:00 am and 1:00 am in shifts ranging from 6 to 8 hours, the attendant manages customer orders at two-aisle check stands, multi-station self-checkout lanes, or customer service desks as assigned. With a focus on safety and accuracy, this role significantly contributes to the overall customer satisfaction and effective store operations. Key responsibilities include operating check stand equipment such as cash registers, scanners, and scales; processing monetary transactions including cash, checks, and coupons; and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of product locations and pricing. The attendant will also stock, price, and rotate merchandise, ensuring the checkout area remains clean and orderly. Additional duties include engaging customers using suggestive selling techniques, adhering to all state and federal laws related to restricted sales such as tobacco and alcohol, and following USDA Food Stamp and WIC voucher procedures. In the specialized self-checkout area, the attendant is expected to maintain a high level of presence by monitoring multiple transactions, assisting customers with errors or alerts, and actively engaging with customers to ensure smooth and secure transactions. Prioritizing safety and customer service, the attendant helps create a positive checkout experience even in a fast-paced environment. This role requires a blend of customer service excellence, operational accuracy, and physical stamina, as the attendant will be on their feet for extended periods while performing a range of tasks within a dynamic retail setting.
