This position requires strong customer service skills to provide fast, friendly, accurate, and safe service to customers throughout their transaction processes. The Head Cashier is responsible for managing checkout and return transactions and proactively supports cashiers by expediting price checks and approving Point of Sale transactions and markdowns. This includes oversight of the mainline registers, self-checkout areas, returns desk, pro desk, special services, and tool rental stations. In addition to transaction management, the Head Cashier acts as the first level escalation point for customer issues, enabling swift resolutions to enhance the customer experience. They are also involved in the coaching, training, and supervising of other Front End Associates, ensuring that new cashiers comprehend company policies, procedures related to shrink minimization, and the use of all available coaching tools. A primary function of this position is to foster a positive and efficient checkout environment, contributing to the overall success of the store’s operations. The ideal candidate for the Head Cashier role possesses at least one year of cash handling and cashier experience, strong leadership abilities, excellent communication skills, and a tactical understanding of retail operations and customer service excellence.
