This role is an hourly, non-exempt position as a Restaurant Cashier, accountable to the Restaurant General Manager and Training General Manager. The primary responsibility is to manage all cash and credit card transactions during the restaurant's serving hours with accuracy and efficiency. The Cashier will greet guests, take food orders, accurately charge menu items, handle payments, and provide correct change, including processing gift cards. This position demands a strong knowledge of the menu and pricing, and the ability to interact with guests courteously and quickly. The Cashier must also be vigilant in identifying counterfeit money, verifying the age of guests when alcoholic beverages are ordered, and maintaining a clean and organized work area. The role involves continuous adherence to safety and sanitation protocols, confidentiality of guest payment information, and upholding company policies to maintain a respectful and harassment-free work environment.
In addition to transactional duties, the Cashier supports the restaurant's mission, values, and vision by actively participating in teamwork, positively interacting with co-workers and guests, and promoting excellent public relations. They also comply with safety measures, including fire and disaster plans, to ensure a secure and risk-managed workplace. Essential skills include the ability to efficiently operate a point-of-sale (POS) system, credit card equipment, and multitask in a fast-paced environment. Candidates for this position should have a high school diploma or GED and 1-2 years of related cashier or food service experience.
