The Camp Host position is a key role within the Operations department, reporting directly to the General Manager. The primary objective is to offer a welcoming, safe, and enjoyable experience for all visitors while ensuring the campground and surrounding areas remain clean, orderly, and well-maintained. The role blends customer service, administrative duties, and physical maintenance work, offering a dynamic and engaging workday for individuals who love the outdoors and have a passion for helping others. Camp Hosts serve as the front-line representatives of the company to visitors, demonstrating courteousness and a helpful attitude. They provide guidance and enforce rules and regulations, enhance visitor awareness about local points of interest, facilities, and safety precautions, and help maintain a positive atmosphere throughout the camping areas. Administrative tasks include registering campers, collecting fees, handling cash responsibly, and managing inventory of retail items like firewood and ice. Hosts are also responsible for recording and reporting revenue, operational issues, and any hazards discovered during their shifts. In addition to administrative duties, Camp Hosts perform a variety of manual labor tasks essential for the upkeep of the campgrounds. These include cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, emptying trash bins and replacing liners, cleaning campsites, picnic tables, fire rings, and grills, disposing of ashes safely, and raking and grooming both campsites and public areas. Maintaining litter-free grounds by picking up micro-trash such as bottle caps and cigarette butts is also crucial. The role demands physical endurance and the ability to work safely in various weather conditions across rough and uneven terrain.
