The role of Cafe Manager at Urban Air's cafe is a pivotal position responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Urban Air Cafe. This position demands a hands-on approach with much of the manager's time spent directly in the kitchen and service areas, preparing and serving food. The Cafe Manager must work efficiently and swiftly, maintaining a sense of urgency while simultaneously providing exceptional customer service and supporting the team. This role balances the practical aspects of food preparation with the leadership responsibilities of managing a team, ensuring standards are upheld and guests are consistently satisfied. The Cafe Manager oversees various operational aspects including ensuring deliveries are received correctly, managing inventory to minimize waste, and maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards. They also train cafe staff in food preparation and front-of-house staff in drink and ready-to-eat food preparation, enforcing quality and consistency. Acting as a role model, the Cafe Manager sets expectations for punctuality, attendance, and attitude, maintaining a supportive and positive work environment that aligns with Urban Air’s culture. This position requires flexibility to work scheduled shifts and to stay beyond designated hours when business needs dictate. The Cafe Manager handles guest concerns with professionalism and efficiency, fostering guest satisfaction and loyalty. Regular participation in staff meetings and training sessions is part of the role, aimed at continuous improvement and alignment with overall company goals. This role reports to the General Manager and also assumes other duties as assigned to ensure smooth cafe operations. It demands excellent interpersonal and communication skills, leadership abilities, and the capacity to problem-solve and strategize effectively within a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This role requires someone with a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent, with some college education preferred. Applicants should have at least two years of experience in food and beverage operations, preferably within quick service or restaurant settings, alongside 1-3 years of management experience in hospitality. Food handling certification is mandatory, either obtained before employment or within the first 30 days. Essential qualities include the ability to lead, motivate, balance fun and seriousness, exercise good judgment, and uphold high standards of conduct and professionalism. Physical requirements include the ability to work in noisy environments, stand for extended periods, and lift up to 30 pounds.
