Within this esteemed network, the role of Barista is vital in enhancing the patient and visitor experience by offering high-quality specialty beverages and food items. The Barista is responsible for preparing hot and cold specialty drinks in alignment with established recipes and procedures, ensuring that all food served meets strict quality and temperature standards. Beyond drink preparation, the Barista also plays a role in merchandising and serving menu items with attention to dietary restrictions and presentation. This role is essential in creating a welcoming environment and promoting menu awareness by maintaining proper signage and communications for any changes. Responsibilities extend to operating the point-of-sale (POS) system while adhering to cash handling policies, restocking supplies, and assisting with the sanitation of the food service department. Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the work area is an ongoing duty, along with completing special cleaning projects as assigned.
Physically, the Barista role requires stamina and mobility, including walking for extended periods, standing, sitting intermittently, and performing lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of items weighing up to 50 pounds. The role also involves occasional bending, climbing, and reaching, as well as sensory requirements such as having normal hearing and adequate vision for safe operation and service delivery.
