The role of Retail Associate I (Barista) at Sacred Grounds is a critical position within the hospitality department designed to enhance customer experience through expertly prepared specialty coffee and other beverages. This non-exempt hourly position offers a wage based on experience, with a starting point of $17.34 per hour plus tips. Hours of work vary, requiring flexibility to cover early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. The successful candidate will be responsible for greeting patrons warmly, taking accurate orders, preparing and serving hot and cold beverages including espresso drinks, blended coffees, and teas, and providing excellent overall customer service.
Beyond beverage preparation, the Retail Associate I will maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of the espresso equipment, utensils, and work area, as well as the indoor and outdoor seating spaces. Monitoring food orders and ensuring timely, accurate service is essential, along with verifying the temperature and proper functioning of refrigeration and heating equipment to meet safety standards. This position demands a high level of attentiveness to detail and quality, including following food safety regulations and using proper methods for food handling and service.
The person filling this role will also be responsible for stock management, including ordering, receiving, and stocking supplies and retail products, maintaining inventory, and updating promotional materials like weekly specials. Knowledge of specialty coffee blends, preparation techniques, and product attributes is important to provide customers with informed recommendations and personalized service. Handling cash and processing payments accurately via the point-of-sale system is a routine part of the job.
This role also involves a degree of multitasking and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced retail environment, meeting the needs of multiple customers efficiently and kindly.
