The Connecticut Association for the Performing Arts (CAPA) is a distinguished organization dedicated to enriching the cultural landscape through live theater and performing arts events. As a nonprofit organization, CAPA manages several venues and programming that bring world-class entertainment to the community, supporting both established and emerging artists. Committed to excellence in guest experience and operational efficiency, CAPA prides itself on delivering unforgettable performance moments to its diverse audiences. The organization fosters a collaborative and inclusive workplace, maintaining equal opportunity employment practices that reflect its values of respect and diversity. CAPA's venues come alive during evenings and weekends, offering patrons a vibrant atmosphere filled with creativity and passion for the arts. The Concessions Barback role plays a vital part in this immersive entertainment environment, ensuring that guests receive high-quality service and that concession areas operate smoothly in support of the performances. The Concessions Barback position at CAPA is an essential operational role designed for individuals who are passionate about customer service and performing arts. This role primarily supports bartenders and concessions staff by assisting with event setup, stock maintenance during shows, and thorough bar area cleaning. The Barback helps to create a seamless concession experience by ensuring that all products are well-stocked, properly secured after events, and that equipment such as coffee urns are well-maintained. The role also includes opening the 4th floor bar to serve snacks, beer, and wine to patrons. Attention to detail and the ability to multitask are crucial as the Barback communicates regularly with bartenders during performances to anticipate needs and maintain operational flow. This position demands physical stamina, including the ability to lift up to 25 pounds, move quickly, and stand for extended periods while maintaining a positive and calm demeanor in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be a dedicated team member with strong guest service skills, understanding alcohol management protocols such as ID checking and knowing when to limit service for patrons’ safety. A minimum of 50% availability for monthly shifts is expected, reflecting the typical performance schedule. CAPA values employees who are flexible with working evenings and weekends, and who embrace the dynamic nature of live event settings. The role may require occasional on-site presence during late hours, which suits candidates with a passion for theater and a hands-on approach to enhancing the patron experience. Ultimately, the position offers a unique opportunity to be part of a leading performing arts organization, contributing to memorable cultural events while developing hospitality and operational expertise within a supportive and culturally rich environment.
